If you notice you have a mouse problem, do not just go out and buy the first available mouse trap. You need to evaluate several factors before deciding on mouse traps that are ideal for your particular situation. Here are some of the questions to consider:
Do not use a trash can which is too wide. If you do, it’s possible the tube will come to rest on an angle, rather than straight up and down. If that happens, the mouse will be able to climb out of the tube easily.
Out of all the members of the rodent kingdom, rats and mice are among the most adaptable regarding habitat and diet. That, in large part, is why they have managed to be a persistent nuisance from the dawn of humanity. The problem lies in the fact that mice and rats will eat just about anything humans eat and are happy to coexist with us in just about every environment.
Designed for indoor use or anywhere it’s not exposed to outdoor elements, the reusable Victor Electronic Rat Trap provides years of effective rat control—perfect for attics, garages, basements, and sheds. The trap does not use any poisons or chemicals, but as with any electronic device, it should be used with caution around children and pets.
These animals host a variety of parasites and diseases easily communicable to humans. These are the creatures that started the Black Plague in the Middle Ages, by harboring fleas that carried the bubonic plague bacteria, among other types like typhus, trichinosis, pneumonia and others. They are also very intelligent creatures, able to perceive the dangers of a trap if rats have been trapped and killed beforehand.
This is the classical, vintage Snap trap design that has been in existence for over a hundred years. However, its wooden and metal design makes it compact and easy to deploy in confined places. Since you actually see your results, you’ll have visible proof that the mice have been eliminated.
Its design is slightly different, and therefore they are much safer than the conventional snap traps. You can use them along the walls, in the corners, or wherever you see their activity. These traps can also be used by professionals for controlling the rat infestation.
For all you skeptics, don’t worry this works! Last week found a rat in my back porch, tried to chase it out of the building but hid behind the stairs. I tried to trap it and even leave the back door open, hoping it would leave. Then one day it was back upstairs in my back porch, chased it down the the stairs and even made barricades hoping it would leave the building, to no resolution. Then I decided to order this product and research the reviews, what’s the worst that can happen, lose $10? One week later I got the product, read the instructions, put some peanut butter on the bait cup, set the trap overnight and went to bed. The next day after coming from work, I opened the basement door to find the rat CAPTURED and DEAD!. This product is the real deal. See for yourself! Not sure if I would reuse the trap as some would after this picture.
Glue boards (also known as glue traps) are trays coated with an extremely sticky adhesive. Often used to get rid of rodents, insects and snakes, many buy these boards as an alternative to indiscriminate snap traps, which endanger pets and children.Animals that touch a glue board are immediately caught and stuck to the board and usually suffer a slow death by starvation or suffocation.
From what you have written, I assume they are outside your apartment and not inside? The best thing to do is remove all food sources, places where they can build nests and nesting materials. Make your property an unfriendly place for rats to live.

The Snap E Rat Trap comes in packs of 6 allowing you to distribute the traps around the house to catch the problem rodents quickly. The quick response time that these traps use means there is no escape for the rodent once it’s been caught. There is a vertical bar that like the traditional wooden traps have except these traps have half the distance to travel so the response is quicker therefore leaving the mouse with next to no time to retrieve the bait. There is also an extra-large paddle and strike bar that catches the rodents from the front the sides and the back, leaving the rodent no way to escape. The Big Snap E does not allow any stains or odors like the old fashioned wooden traps; they can be reused for years so you get maximum usage for your money. Epic fail! The Victor rat trap trigger had been stripped of peanut butter and was dangling from the bucket. Now what? DRG suggested that the “Stairway to Heaven” was not wide enough and the Victor trap needed to be placed, as designed, flat on the floor. I reset the trap and anchored it. I’ve had rats drag traps out of reach before. Rotting rat inside a wall is not pleasant!
The newest type of rat traps are electronic. Most of these are made to use food as bait, but hormone drops or other non-food rat attractants can also be used. Simply put, they are all shaped much like a large can, with one side open and one side closed. The rat goes into this “can” to investigate, and once inside, a powerful electric current kills them.

So, if you are looking for a humane way for killing them, then it’s not the best humane rat trap. You can find something better.

Also a great option for you if you do not want to deal with a bloody mess left from a typical snap trap.
Top Tip : I bought this trap after I’d dealt with quite a bad rat infestation problem in my chicken run. It takes out one rat at a time, so if you have evidence of a large number of rats you need to get them under control first. See here for options and further advice.
Peanut butter is among the most highly recommended rat baits to use because it attracts the animal and is incredibly simple. You most likely already have peanut butter in your home and when you spread it on a trap, it will stay in place. Since the rat can’t just pick it up and take the bait with them, they are more likely to be trapped. While peanut butter is a popular choice, you can also use whole nuts, bacon, berries, gumdrops, or dried fruit. Generally speaking, roof rats will prefer foods that are plant based while Norway rats will prefer items with a lot of sugar, protein, and fat. Either species likes peanut butter and dried fruit.

Snap traps are the most practical option due to their low cost which lets you affordably place and set many traps at once. However, snap traps are a little hard to use and some folks prefer other options.
I re-baited the trap, turned it on, and checked it the next morning. I could see a rat tail poking out of the trap. I don’t know how they call this thing “no see” when it the tail was impossible to miss. Anyway, I disposed of the rat and reset the trap without applying more bait. Another rat down in just a few hours! Fast forward a couple of weeks and the trap has claimed (I think) 11 rats so far and I’m still on the first set of batteries. Super effective!
