Second evening, BAM, killed three mice in less than six hours. I think the instructions on the package should have been a bit more detailed. Wear heavy gloves to avoid bites. Pour cooking oil on the trap glue at the points where the animal is caught and massage the animal’s skin or fur to work the oil into the glue. You may need to use a lot of oil (but don’t drown the poor animal!) so do this where spilled oil won’t be a problem. It will take a few minutes for the oil massage to work. Once the animal is free, give it a soapy bath to remove the oil (if it’s your pet) or take it to a veterinarian for follow-up care.

Awesome idea, Just made mine and putting in some of my dog biscuits (something is going for it) and I’m not having any luck with mouse traps. So i thought your idea might be the one to track down the little tacker that is sneaking about in the night. I attached my trap.. Thanks again.

Cheap, easy, and I don’t fear for my fingers setting them. I set them up in my shed and storage rooms and I have not seen a trap get sprung without an unwanted intruder in it. Tip, I put a dab of peanut butter and then a piece of dog food sticking out of the peanut butter.
While this device is designed to deliver no-blood kills by squeezing the caught mouse hard; that may not always be the result it produces. If the rat is relatively small, this device may invariably cause it to bleed. Additionally, as the snap-back top falls on the mouse, there may be unintended “mess” (e.g. mouse poop) released in the immediate vicinity of the trap.
We apologize for this experience and appreciate the time taken to share this feedback. When baiting the trap, we recommend using a toothpick amount of peanut butter on the back wall of the trap or one or two pieces of dried dog food at the back of the trap. If bait is scattered inside the trap, this may cause a false trigger.
You will physically need to pull back the spring to “load” it, once you have placed the bait on the bait holder, and then carefully set it on rat-runs, or occupied areas where rats are known to travel.
