• neighborhood activism: get your neighbors involved, as the problem is very unlikely limited to your property… rats eat dog feces, compost, grille remains, bird seed… and just about anything, but, in our neighborhood, they were feeding (or are still feeding) at a neighbor that does not clean up after their dog and a neighbor composting… and, living at another neighbor that has let their garage and yard go to squaller…. thus, our yard was a traffic route between feeding and nesting. but, it is a city wide problem, as we have learned via nextdoor website for our city… so, neighbor involvement is a must, as you may eliminate them from living or feeding on your or adjacent property, but they will still be in the area and will likely return. if you do not know your neighbors and do not want to do the door-to-door thing, then join nextdoordotcom for your city and post something like “Unwanted Neighbors – Rats!” … this is how we learned that it is a pervasive, city-wide problem and we were both receiving and disseminating information via this site… though i appreciate that most of us no longer “need” neighbors in this era, you do NEED your neighbors as allies in this war!
If you’d like to buy it and you live in America, clicking on any of the pictures will take you to Amazon USA, who sell it at the best price I’ve been able to find. If you live in the UK, see this link.
Then, position boxes of equal height next to the buckets. Place thin wood planks on the boxes and have them overhang into the middle of the buckets. The planks should fall into the buckets easily when a little bit of pressure is applied to the end of it.
Alternatively, you can also use cat’s litter. However, if the rat is infected with toxoplasmosis, it strangely may actually be attracted to cats and cat litter (a very weird side effect of the disease)
With our last hopes, we found an article online about a rat spray that was said to make miracles. We thought it was impossible that a $5 spray would do any good, but what the heck, we’ve place our order. In two days, our package arrived, and in the next day the rats were.

When you are dealing with a lot of rats like you will get with a typical attic infestation then it is better to set out about a dozen traps at once. If you only set out one or two traps then the remaining rats will figure out that something is going on and become very cautious.
The Easy Set traps works like a charm. Compared to the lower cost “uneasy, ” regular mouse traps. Apparently, the yellow platform, which the mouse crawls upon the get to the bait instantly and effectively sets off the trap every time with very little (if any) bait stealing. As advertised, Easy Set traps are indeed much easier to set.
I had a problem with roof rats. Put two of these bad boys out baited with peanut butter and caught one within a day. I like the fact that it did kill instantly and the poor little guy didn’t suffer. Hate to have to kill them but can’t have them in my attic destroying things.
If you are concerned about the mice suffering I would not use these. I have seen mice that struggle for several days. But we have deer mice and they can carry the hanta virus which is often fatal. Sometimes this is the only thing that works for me.
Location, Location, Location Set the baited trap in areas where you have noticed high levels of rodent activity. Rodents tend to travel along walls, so placement in this location often works best. For maximum effectiveness, use multiple traps, placed at 2 to 3 foot intervals to increase results. Place the trap with the baited end flush against the wall.

It is important to maintain the appearance that the papered-over coffee can is capable of supporting the mouse when it walks across it. Instead of cutting a solid “X”, you could try poking small, closely-spaced holes in an “X” shape across the surface of the paper.
The base of this snap trap is made from Forest Stewardship Council-sourced wood harvested from environmentally-monitored forests. The wood has been kiln dried and will not warp. The traps metal pedal has four releases for greater success in catching rats. The trap has a copper-steel wire bow. Two springs are oil-tempered for efficiency.
use about a half gallon of old (smelly) cooking oil in a large open glass container ( a vase or cookie jar ). The oil should be about two – three inches from the top. Secure a timber ramp from the ground to the top of the glass container. The rats will fall in but will not get out due to the slippery oil and glass sides. GUARANTEED to work and to go on working…..
Well I used to be one that said they were junk. I have three homes in the country in Illinois. It seems the key is this: Don’t buy the cheapest and there is definately a critical mass issue (you need enough of them). It’s been 3 years now since I “relaunched” them and I can say they can really work if you apply them correctly. You need one per room (two if it is a big room) They must not be blocked by something. Higher works better than lower. Lastly what you will find is that you will see more activity from mice the first week or two because it makes them kind of crazy but by 2-3 weeks they get sick of it and leave. get the ones that send out both an audio signal and one on your electric wires and also get the ones that change the frequency now and then so that nothing can get used to it.
For me, these traps have to be baited properly in order to catch rats. I use peanut butter, but I don’t just dab some on the copper tab. I use a qtip with the tip soaked in peanut butter, cut the tip off the stick, and lodge that under the point on the trigger plate. I then dab some on top of that to entice the rats. Once the rats run across the trap they will try to nibble the qtip tip that is lodged under the trigger plate, then snap! Rats are smart, if you just dab some on the trigger plate itself, they will just lick it off, evading the trap. If you bait the plate where they have to nibble at it, you’ll get great results everytime!
guys I am relocated in Vietnam where I was facing big rats(about 50 big rats) in our company I bought traps from eBay when I was in London, but i am sorry to say it only worked on mice sometimes and had no effect on big rats, I used following procedure to kill all the rats.
Found mouse Droppings in a couple Kitchen drawers (gross), under kitchen Sink, and inside the bottom of a couple kitchen cabinets. Foam-filled & caulked the hell out of Rental unit Kitchen. Rat poison & Victor mouse traps all over the place now. Mice ate all the Poison set in attic. One of these Victor mouse traps walked away (disappeared) from where I’d put it in the attic, so I set 2 more identical traps. Next day – one dead Deer Mouse. Whole house filled with poison & these mouse traps. Yes, they’re sensitive, they have to be to catch a tiny mouse. Other brand Glue strips & more Expensive (plastic) no-touch mouse traps haven’t caught anything.
I have lot of cockroaches in my home. I have tried all the ways but they come back after some days. I havent used electronic repellents. Tell me how much effective r they and is their any other way to get rid of them.
A. Then use this technique. Find a plastic container wide enough to hold the glue trap placed flat with edges at least 4 inches (10 cm) high for mice and 8 inches (20 cm) high for rats. Put on heavy gloves so you won’t get bitten. Place the glue trap and the mouse or rat rodent-side up in the plastic container, and take outside. Spray the rodent with vegetable oil as a lubricant. (Do not dab the oil on the rodent with your fingers. It will bite.) Grab the rodent by its tail and help it wriggle free of the trap, tipping it out of the container just as it gets free.
DESCRIPTION:Victor Rat traps work very well and kill rats instantly. They are strong and durable enough to kill even the largest rats with ease. Victor Rat snap traps work best when baited with sticky bait (i.e. peanut butter) to ensure that the rat will disturb the trigger mechanism even if the rat touches the bait only lightly. 1 case = 12 traps.
I purchased one, a week ago, to control fleas and bugs. Also, we have some spiders. The fleas activity was reduced. I don’t want to say that it stopped totally yet. My arms are getting a chance to heal now from the bites I get when sleeping. I believe the product works. I have not seen a single spider around. It’s important to get rid of clutter around the house because ‘things’ will absorb the sound. It may depend on what product brand you purchase. I purchased the “Transonic Pro Electronic Pest Repeller”. I got mine from Gardenfun.com but you might find them somewhere else also. Give it a week or two to see results. My husband agreed about the change in our home.

We’ve all seen it happen. The mouse comes out to the trap that you strategically placed in the corner where it was forced to walk. It takes a minute to breathe in the fresh aroma from the cheese you placed ever so gently on the trigger switch. Then, it makes its move.
In our warehouse we were having issues with mice not rats so we tried the mice traps sold by same company but the adhesive on the mice traps are too weak.So we went to the Rat size glue traps which uses a stronger adhesive. Place them out per instructions and place Peanut Butter in the middle of the traps and next business day caught multiple on each trap. Now no more mice.
These noises are often accompanied by a vibration in the chest cavity, in fact if you rest your fingers lightly on there back you can often feel the vibrations before you can hear the noise. These are noises associated with damage to the respiratory tract and often the first sign of a respiratory issue. In some cases a rat can have scarring or a genetic defect causing it to make these noises even when not ill, however its important to rule out respiratory issues with a course of antibiotics before assuming this.
Folks, Do as I say… Find, Bengal Roach Spray. It’s made in Baton Rouge,LA, I believe. Spray it near your doors inside and out and trust me, after they crawl out to die, that’s the last you will see for months. It’s odorless. Matter of fact, it’s so odor free, I wasn’t even sure if it was actually spraying.

If you encounter an animal who is stuck to a glue trap, pour a small amount of cooking oil or baby oil onto the stuck areas (avoiding the animal’s nose and mouth) and gently work the animal free. If you cannot free the animal, quickly rush him or her to a veterinarian or wildlife rehabilitator. Sometimes euthanasia performed by a veterinarian is the most humane way to end the trapped animal’s suffering.
Remove the paper label. Use you’re ice pick or drill to bore a hole in the center of the can lid. If you plan to reuse the liquid, turn the can over and bore another hole in the bottom of the can over a container. This will vent the can and empty in a few minutes.
Once you catch a rat in a live trap you will need to figure out what you want to do with it. Some states have laws that require you to kill any trapped nuisance rodents. If you do decide to release the rat then do so as far away from your home (and those of others) as practical.
No kill rat traps are slowly gaining in popularity as more and more people become concerned with animal rights, although they have get to gain widespread popularity . Rats do have a place in the ecosystem as scavengers clearing out dead animal and plant materials. They are also an important food source for carnivorous species such as owls, hawks, bobcats, mountain lions and many other apex predators.
Q.Do you mean to tell me that you could not invent a better trip for loading without one jeopardizing his/her fingers to load the trap? I thought you had better adaptness than that. I had to use two pliers in order to bait the trap in order to protect my fingers. What a shame on YOU.
We had a double deck built in August this year thus, assume this is where the origin of our problem occurred. As a result, we began to see a large brown rat of which had burrowed under the deck up against the basement wall. With the sound of constant chewing then sudden squealing we realized she had given birth. The rodent entered at the outside air condition unit under the deck and now, are in the basement . At this point, we hired a pest control to use humane options $400. caught one rat and did not leave the trap at that cost! Obviously glue traps do not work, after the first release. Then, again able to remove the bait from another clamp trap apparently out smarting us again. What about a bucket trap? Advise please.
A Hiss is an aggressive form of a ‘huff’. The rat will be aggressively posturing, probably fluffed up with their tail wagging. This rat should not be approached or picked up without a towel, some thick gloves or similar. In many cases it is best to leave the rat to calm down in a small familiar place such as a carrier. It is often a precursor to an outright attack or fight.
The ability to remove the battery/electronics off of this unit to clean has made maintaining these traps SO much easier. That was the only drawback of this units predecessor. Both units give reliable results, but the ability to clean easier is a definite plus. The square shape is also nice for stacking the traps when not in use or when carrying multiple units. This is not just a rat trap. It works GREAT with mice as well.
I stand there in shock as he hides on top of the shelf mocking me with his shrieks. It’s on! No more cute little YouTube contraptions. You know, there are times when a better mouse trap has already been built. Use it!
I haven’t used them yet but I bought 5 of them for 2 dollars n some change each off eBay ….so I spent 11 dollars n change all together for 5 of them…..I got a new apartment. .the neighbor has a infestation of roaches..so there where roaches..and spiders..omg.. I used insect fogger in each room …a boric acid ..and roach gel in the corners and crevasses…I haven’t moved in yet ..even though I’ve only seen 1 roach everytime I visit…so I just hope these ultrasonic things work..and keep everything out ..I have a 1 year old..we can’t live in there until every insect is out
If you’re using a round bottle rather than a bottle with roughly rectangular sides, it is more difficult to gauge where to place the marks. Try to place the marks about 90 degrees apart from each other around the circumference of the bottle, two on one side of the cut and two on the other.
