A: Electronic rat traps are the quickest and easiest way to catch rats. They are easy to use, with no setting or glue required. Their no-touch technology, plus 100% kill rate makes them an ideal way to control your rat problem. If you would like more information on how to catch a rat, view our complete guide below.
Place the arm bar over the kill bar and secure it under the plastic pedal. Take note of the Firm and Sensitive setting. The trap will be easier to set on the firm side, but not trip as easy. The trap will be more difficult to set on the sensitive side, but trip very easily.
Decide whether glue traps are worth it. Many people consider glue traps inhumane because they cause rodents to die slowly or chew off their own limbs. However, some pest management professionals do use glue traps depending on the situation. You’ll need to decide whether the effectiveness of glue traps is worth using them.
Ammonia-soaked cotton balls or rags will drive rodents out (they hate the smell). Place them in areas where rodents, droppings, or nests have been seen, and be sure to give the animals a few days to leave. Then, to keep unwelcome “visitors” out, seal entry points using foam sealant, steel wool, hardware cloth, or metal flashing. If any rodents need to be removed from homes, this can be done with humane box traps.
Obtain a large coffee can. The can should have a mouth approximately five to six inches across and a height of about seven to eight inches. The coffee can should have smooth sides which cannot be easily scaled by rodents. If using economy size coffee cans which are ten inches deep or more, place a small pad or bunched cloth at the bottom to prevent injury to the mouse you’ll catch.
A. Glue traps last as long as the glue isn’t covered by dust, dirt, trash, or insects. The cleaner the area is when you start, the longer the glue trap will remain sticky. Just to be sure, don’t use a glue trap for more than 30 days.
came home at 7pm, seldom see cockroach in that time (usual , they meet each others at midnight time), I seen a tiny cockroach 1cm , wondering around the kitchen sink, on the flat surface — in the past, they like the floor or in the vertical tile on top of sink
In order for a glue board to work it has to be the right size for the rodent you’re dealing with. The Trapper Rat Glue Board Traps are 10″x4.75″, if they’re bigger than the squirrels you’re dealing with they could work.
AThe Trapper Rat and Trapper Mouse Glue boards use the same type of glue. The only difference is the size of the board. If you know you only have mice, then you should get the Trapper Mouse Glue Boards. If you are not sure, then you should get the Trapper Rat Glue Board because it is large enough to catch rats and mice.
Consider kill traps. Electronic kill traps are widely considered to be the most effective method of removing mice and rats from your home. They are also safer for non-rodents in your home, and easier to dispose of compared to other kill traps. While they are more expensive, they are the quickest way to rid your home of mice and rats, and are the most humane type of kill trap. (Live traps, however, are the most effective way to get squirrels out of your home.)
If you have rats under your floorboards, then don’t panic! Having rats under floorboards stumps many people in finding the best way to get rid of them. This is why I have written about a number of ways you can make their lives very uncomfortable so that they leave you in peace.
An electric rat trap is a simple device that electrocutes rodents, effectively killing them immediately. A homemade rat trap that is electrified can be used only indoors, out of the reach of children and pets.
The concept here is that the larger end of the plate, the side without the bait on it, is being held by the buckets edge, to give the mouse support enough to walk onto the plate and make it’s way to the bait.
The original wood-based wire snap trap, the Victor Metal Pedal Rat Trap provides instant rodent control and is safe for household use. Trusted to control rats for over 100 years, this trap allows for clean and quick trapping – ideal for maximum rodent. Once a rodent triggers the metal petal, the trap immediately springs closed to eliminate the pest on contact. Not sure if the continuation of the tutorial is even necessary at this point. I didn’t have a mouse problem, I had rats! This is why I continue to stress the importance of trading theory for ACTION before you actually need critical gear and equipment.
For best results, bait the trap with a sticky substance. Rats are fond of peanut butter, fruit, meat, and cereal. Using several traps and placing them three feet apart in the rats foot path increases the chances of success. After catching a rat, Victor advises users to throw out the trap. For help setting the trap, keeping pets away from traps, and other pest control advice consult the Victor Web site. This item measures 6-13/16 by 3-7/16 inches, and weighs 1 pound. –Jessica Reuling
Determine which type of rat you’re up against. There are two common types of rats. Brown rats (Norway rats) are particularly common. Their bodies are 7-10 inches long, they have gray-brown fur, and a tail that is shorter than their body. Indoors, they live in basements and lower portions of buildings. Black rats (roof rats) are smaller, with 6-8 inch bodies, darker gray or black fur, and have tails that are longer than their bodies. Indoors, they lives in attics, voids in ceilings, and the upper portions of buildings.
If allergy season has passed and you find that you are still experiencing the stuffy nose, itchy eyes, coughing, rash outbreaks or respiratory issues that regularly plague you at that time, you might be suffering from an allergic reaction to mice in your home. Read More »
Big momma rat has no chance with the victor electric rat trap. Just a little peanut butter, turn it on, ZAPPP, and dump it out! This one was so big it would hardly come out of the chamber when finished.
I live in an apartment had have used ultrasonic pest control for 10 years. A few months after moving in we had a mouse problem, put down those sticky pads and bought my first ultrasonic plug ins and have been using them since 2006. After the initial problem, we spotted a rodent in Nov, 2011, rfreshed the units and no more problems until Sep 2015, which kind of surprised me because we change them every 18 months. We replaced the units and replaced them again in April of this year. It is now October and we have suddenly becme infested even though. Even though the units were replaced just 6 months ago,, we replaced them yesterday, and put down sticky pads. I’m hoping this will get rid of the disgusting things at least for the next 6 months (when we plan to move). I don’t know what happened. The plug ins worked for us for 10 years. Now I feel dirty and feel like everything in the house needs to be scoured, but I need the rodents gone first. I do have a spray I can use, but it smells so bad It kept everyone around here choking for hours.
Another, more tragic drawback is that poisoned rats can be consumed by non-target animals, before or after the poison has done its work, resulting in secondary poisoning. This has a huge impact on both pets and wildlife, most often lethal in outcome. Recognizing these dangers, the Environmental Protection Agency has dictated that poisons be used only in tamper proof bait stations enclosed so that the poison bait is accessible only to the rats. This EPA ruling does not eliminate the danger from poisoned rat carcasses being eaten, but it does eliminate direct consumption of the poisonous baits by pets, wildlife and small children.
As you know, rats live in groups and prefer to live next to people to find food and a safe home, especially in highly populated areas. Rats can eat your food, lead to severe injury, and transmit diseases. Let’s talk how you can make a rat trap.
Alternatively, you can also use cat’s litter. However, if the rat is infected with toxoplasmosis, it strangely may actually be attracted to cats and cat litter (a very weird side effect of the disease)
they where great my fault just a little too large could have done with a size just a little smaller not sure there is such a thing ? they just eat the bait without trap going off as you can see I am a novice thanks
Im a bass player and whenever Id be practicing loud I’d be hearing all this scurrying in my ceiling. Yeah I have rats in my attic and my bass guitar was pissing them off. Everyone wants to build a better mouse/rat trap. The only problem is that most of them don’t work as well as the old standby. Yes, they are a bit tricky to bait without setting off, but they sure do the job when properly set up.
I use these to discourage our cat from getting into areas she shouldn’t be. Don’t worry, she doesn’t get stuck to it. Once they see that it’s sticky they avoid it completely. Much cheaper than alternate methods. Glue is non toxic so it won’t hurt your furry friends, just keeps them out of places they shouldn’t be.

The Victor Electronic Rat Trap kills up to 50 rats per set of 4 ‘C’ batteries (not included).
I have battled rats for many years. Living close to a creek with sewer lines that run along it, these pesky critters always show up in the basement every winter. I’ve used just about every snap rat trap on the market, and although alot of the other traps work, these traps are the ones I keep coming back to. These traps work and work very well.
I had doubts when I bought this trap, but I gave it a shot anyway. I’m dealing with roof rats and wanted something that wasn’t going to make a huge mess up there. The only reason I don’t give this 5 stars is the price, which prevents me from wanting to buy several of them to clear out the roof rats faster.
after quite the outdoor rat infestation, we are now living rat-free 🙂 … thanks to these very effective Victor traps! (and, other items & measures taken below) … the following is what we learned, during our lil’ rat war this past 2017 summer;
Wait for the mouse to fall in. The mouse will run up the ruler to reach the food on the opposite side of the coffee can, then fall into the can when the apparently solid surface gives way beneath it. You’ll know the trap has been sprung if you see the bait you laid is no longer there, or if the construction paper has been partially torn. Check the can for the mouse.
