If you dig a little deeper into the various products, you’ll find that the studies have mixed results. Overall, some ultrasonic pest control devices show some results with certain pests – how’s that for convincing? These products are by no means a quick fix, and none of them claim 100% effectiveness on any pest, so they need to be kept in perspective as a possible contributor to an overall pest management system, not as a magic weapon.
This trap has both a firm and sensitive setting. It will be easier to set on the firm setting. Keep in mind that the pedal is pre-baited. Adding bait is optional, but could affect the sensitivity. This is one mouse trap I use when I want to catch several mice and I am not going to be around for a little while. Many times we would use this at my hunting cabin in the foothills of the Adirondacks when we would leave for the week and come back to a bucket full of mice.

These traps are the best and the only ones I buy. They catch mice like crazy! Their customer service is impeccable as well. I had a problem with an order that I received a few months ago. Most of the traps were broken in transit and hadn’t realized until last week when I took them out of the box to use. I called a rep at Victor, explained what happened and they took care of me and send me new ones. This is what customer service is all about and the reason I’m a customer for life. Thank you Victor!

I don’t think that any commenters can truly say if the devices work. I do not see that any scientific experiments were conducted. Were two residences setup with exactly the same conditions both with mice. One serving as the control and one serving as the test? If you don’t evaluate using a scientific method with a control, you really cannot draw a valid conclusion regarding the effectiveness of the device.
Top Tip :  I bought this trap after I’d dealt with quite a bad rat infestation problem in my chicken run.  It takes out one rat at a time, so if you have evidence of a large number of rats you need to get them under control first.  See here for options and further advice.
I grew up in the Midwest, and every so often little mice from a neighboring field would occasionally find their way into our home and set up shop. On one such occasion, we picked up a package of glue traps from the local hardware store and set them out around the house. Back then, I didn’t realize just how horrifying a little glue trap could be.
But you’d better know that sticky rodent traps are inhumane, because trapped animals usually suffer and cry for many hours before death from dehydration or stress. So we suggest you check your glue traps very often or use other traps.
When I finally succeeded in my task, a battered and disheveled mouse, with missing clumps of fur, limped off into the night. Many trapped animals end up breaking or chewing off their own limbs in their struggle for freedom.
The Tomcat Glue Traps with Eugenol for Enhanced Stickiness (Rat Size) are the pesticide-free, non-toxic way to effectively control rats. The Eugenol formula provides enhanced stickiness for superior gripping power—rats are stuck as soon as they step onto the trap. And, traps are kid and pet friendly.
Set out unset rat traps can be buried in grain, sawdust, or similar materials within an empty cardboard box or pie pan. Place the rat bait in small pieces near it and above it with the hidden trap below. Once the rats start taking the bait, set the traps. This set up will acclimate the rats to the traps, once adapted, set enough traps to kill a large percentage of the population before the rodents become ” trap shy” This method is called mass trapping, catching them at a higher rate than they can repopulate and become shy of the trap.
to people who say diatomaceous earth works, you are lying. It does not work at all. I can’t believe there are so many people willing to keep that BS alive. I had fleas and spread it all over my house up to a quarter inch deep. Fleas just laughed at me. I used it because I did not want to use any chemicals as I have cats. I found something called fleabusters and (ortho-boriic acid) I was afraid it would hurt my furry friends but decided to give it a try after speaking with a few people who used it, so I took a big spoon with holes in it, scooped up some of the fleabusters powder and softly dropped the spoon every few inches to release a small amount of powder and spread it over the carpet. About 10′ by 10′. Then Took a plastic paint tarp, laid it over top of the powder and walked all over it. Vacuumed it up with my dyson animal and voila! fleas became history within a couple days. Cats were not affected and life returned to normal. Anyone who says diatomaceous earth works is trying to sell it to you.
I’ve just plugged one in each room in my house a couple of days ago, and so far it’s just increasing the activity of the mice. It’s not a quick fix and if you’re petrified of mice, like I am, these electronic devices don’t really help.

Can anything speak louder than a photo of a giant dead rat in this device? I don’t think so. I can’t believe it. I set it up Saturday afternoon… no luck that first night (might has been my bait choice and/or location), then moving to the edge of a wall facing the bush my cat caught one in and putting the bit of peanut butter on the wall of the back, and bam, this morning I look out and see the little feet hanging out the front entrance. Im an animal lover but after what I have been through..seeing that felt like christmas to me.
Ok this one is really innovative and gets a sucker with the scratch and sniff sticker. The video below shows an empty bottle, bigger than your average 20-ounce soda bottle and square much like a Fiji water bottle, set up as a rat trap. Now the video is set up for a rat which explains the reasoning behind the larger bottle, but I can imagine the trap in a smaller version would work just as fine for mice.

My wife saw a large rat outside out house in AZ and we started hearing scratching on the roof. Then we found a nest near her car battery when she went in for an oil change. I didn’t want the rat to start damaging stuff so we decided to get a trap and try to kill it. One morning I put 4 of these in my front yard and baited them with peanut butter. When I came home from work I checked my traps. The good news is I killed the rat. I also killed the cutest baby chipmunk I’d ever seen, a bird was nearly decapitated, and a giant squirrel had dragged the trap all over the yard before dying a terrible death. As a killing machine this trap gets 5 stars but I won’t buy one ever again. I’m going to try to find a non-lethal trap the next time I want to get rid of a critter.
Designed for indoor use or anywhere it’s not exposed to outdoor elements, the reusable Victor Electronic Rat Trap provides years of effective rat control—perfect for attics, garages, basements, and sheds. The trap does not use any poisons or chemicals, but as with any electronic device, it should be used with caution around children and pets.
A. If you set out glue traps singly rather than in pairs, larger rodents can do a long jump over the trap. They might just get one of their hind paws stuck in the glue. They can drag the trap back to a hole in the wall and pull it off, or, in a few cases, they will even gnaw off their paw to escape. It’s kinder to the animal to put out two traps, not just one, with an inch (2.5 cm) gap between them.
The chipmunk trap is just like yours, in that you have an access (board or thick stick) and a bucket. In this case it should be half full of water, and you use birdseed-grade sunflower seeds. I would take about a half cup, sprinkle it on top of the water, bait a few on the stick, and go to work. In the evening, check the bucket and usually there was a drowned (or drowning – not for the squeamish spouses) chipmunk in the bucket. My record was 6 in one day. Whether they were jumping in to eat the seeds, or thirsty and going after the water, I don’t care as long as it worked.
When rats take up residence under the kitchen sink, a rat trap is often required to evict the pesky visitors. Snap traps are thought of as the more humane lethal rat trap, killing rats quickly. Snap traps also don’t pose the health risks affiliated with rat poisons.

Obtain a one liter plastic water bottle. A similar bottle would work as well, but one liter water bottles are ideal because they are long and narrow, and often have flat sides which allow them to sit undisturbed. You could substitute a two liter bottle as well. Whatever type of bottle you choose, ensure it is transparent and composed of thin, pliable plastic.
