Easy to bait (we used about 5 pellets of dry kitten food), set it against the wall behind the couch where we found mouse droppings and the next morning found a blinking red light and a dead mouse. I feel confident that this is the most humane way to dispose of the little buggers quickly. 3 more nights with it set and no more kills so we must’ve only had one. Thank goodness for the rat zapper!!!
Don’t want to keep resetting the trap? Try skewering a plastic bottle and positioning it over a bucket so it spins when the mouse runs out to get the peanut butter like in the video below (skip to 1:25 to see it in action).

Melted, it has the consistency of latex paint, and solidifies quickly as it is poured on the cardboard squares I chose to use. It doesn’t lose it’s “stickiness”, and is way more economical than buying individual traps. However, I’m not going to pay $90+ per gallon. Hope this helps.
Eliminating rats from an office building or factory is a much larger mission than trapping rats infesting a home. If multiple floors are seeing signs of rats, you need to learn the root of the problem. They could be accessing these spaces via air vents, basements or even toilets. Once access points are identified, conquer these rodents with a sufficient number of traps.
For rat trap DIY, you will need a piece of metal plate, a small cage rat trap, jumper cables and a 12V battery. Cage rat traps are commercially available nowadays. They simply catch rodents that enter our homes. Connecting cages to batteries allows to kill the pests immediately.
I occasionally use mouse glue traps around our home when I see evidence of mice. The other day my 2-year old daughter stuck her hand on a glue trap that I thought was hidden. We both freaked out because we couldn’t figure out how to get her unglued. I finally got her calmed down enough so that I could slowly pull her loose but it was a lot of work to get the glue off of her skin. Is there an easier way to do this in case it happens again? A. Did the peanut butter, coin and cup work?? I’ve got a little mouse just trying to get in from the biting cold outside but he got himself jammed stuck yesterday. I loosened him so he went back into his hidey hole but I really need to get him out ASAP. I’m pretty sure he’s starving to death in the hole since he can’t get into our main floor. I want to get him the hell out of the house though!

For the final review: If you are killing rats these may work as Ralph was about the size of a large rat. You may want to anchor them to the ground though, and for that I’ll take off one star. If going for larger game, you may want to put a GPS tracking device on these if you wish to get the traps back. As for killing chipmunks, I’d give these traps 1 star as I had a horrible experience and have decided to make a peace treaty with my chipmunk friends instead.
The simplest and the least expensive of these traps are the snap traps. You can get dozens for the cost of a good electronic rat trap, and if you have a major rat infestation, snap traps would be the cheapest way to go. Because they are all so simple and easy to use, they are also deadly reliable, and as long as the rats do not become trap wary, they will keep catching rats every time.
Unscented dish soap can be added to the hot water. When a bait is not attracting the rodents, we recommend trying other baits. If you have a rat infestation and you are looking for an alternative to poison, but want to be able to make multiple catches, then a multi-catch rat trap is the way to go. Poisons kill rats, but then the decomposing rats leave horrible odors within walls and hard-to-reach places. Avoid this stench by using a trap that can catch and kill dozens of rats each time you bait it. This method is called the bucket trap and drowns its victims.

Rats (especially Roof rats) are wary of new objects, new foods or changed in environment. They are constantly exploring surroundings and notice changes and are suspious by nature.. This is why traps and bait stations may be avoided for a day or two. They approach new food or object with caution. Within a rat colony, they may be a few rats that are extra cautious and manage to avoid traps or eating rodent baits. See Rat Trapping Tips and Rat Baiting Tips.

Locate the bucket handle hinges on each side of the bucket. Drill two holes through the plastic directly above these hinges on each side of the bucket with an electric drill using a 1/2-inch drill bit. Poke the wood dowel through the two holes to see if it fits. Remove one end of dowel from hole and leave it in the bucket.
Wi-Fi-Capability Gives the Power to Monitor from Anywhere The compatible app distinguishes the Smart-Kill™ trap from other electronic traps by simplifying your pest control routine. It’s quick to set up and pair with your trap, and allows you to give unique names to your traps so you can easily identify them. The Victor Electronic Rat Trap is the ultimate in rodent control. It works by delivering a humane, high-voltage shock to effectively kill the invading rat. This powerful device is capable of killing up to 50 rats per set of fully charged batteries (4 C), making it a great value when you’re dealing with a sizable infestation. It’s also easy to use. Get started by simply applying a high protein bait in the provided bait cup, place the trap in a location with high rodent activity and turn it on. The trap is equipped with advanced smart circuit technology, which senses when a rat enters the tunnel, triggering the system to deliver a humane, high-voltage shock once the rat steps on the electrified plate. Since rats have the ability to restart their hearts after an electrical shock, this trap applies shock for 2 minutes to ensure higher kill rates. After making a catch, a green LED light blinks to indicate a kill. For your convenience, the trap’s design allows you to easily dispose of the dead rodent without having to see or touch it. The new and improved design of the electronic trap has a removable kill chamber, which provides better plate access so you can easily clean and bait it in between uses. These traps require no poison or chemicals and can be used anywhere inside your home or business to ensure years of effective rat control.
