Out of all the members of the rodent kingdom, rats and mice are among the most adaptable regarding habitat and diet. That, in large part, is why they have managed to be a persistent nuisance from the dawn of humanity. The problem lies in the fact that mice and rats will eat just about anything humans eat and are happy to coexist with us in just about every environment.

Tons of companies, including  CVS, Dollar Tree, Rite Aid, and Walgreens,  have stopped selling glue traps, and many other businesses have stopped using glue traps after hearing from concerned customers. Unfortunately, some companies still sell these inhumane devices. Whenever you see glue traps for sale, send a polite letter to the store manager. Ask him or her to stop selling the traps and point out the many companies nationwide that have already sworn off glue traps.
The all-weather housing allows the trap to be used indoors and outdoors while the 2-chamber designs make cleaning easy. It delivers a heart-stopping shock that kills the rat or mice in a humane manner without blood, splatter or any other mess.
I gave it 4 stars because occasionally the rat gets away. Sometimes the trap is sprung with no sign of a rat, and sometimes there’s a rat arm inside the trap. It makes me feel a little sad to think of the rats with crutches and prosthetic legs. I assume, in their world, it’s hard to get a job as a chef, lab rat, running in a rat race, or zodiac model with a missing front leg. Although, I hear the rats in this area have a strong union with excellent health care.

Remember: Glue traps cause slow, agonizing deaths for the animals they trap. Never use glue traps, and share this with your family and friends so that they will learn the truth about these vile devices, too. Mice and rats are intelligent, sensitive animals who are just as capable of pain and suffering as the cats and dogs we share our homes with.
Easy to set by hand or foot. Patented interlocking teeth. Removable bait cup allows trap to be service without being set. Motomco’s mechanical traps are ideal for capturing the occasional “intruder” or as part of a more extensive control program. Traps are easy to use and work well along walls, in corners or wherever rodents travel. TOMCAT reusable rat and mouse traps set in one easy motion and are safer to use the conventional snap traps.
Rodent infestations can be a real nuisance to any business or homeowner. Rats and mice have a way of multiplying when you least expect them, so the best way to combat the problem is to invest in a reliable trapping mechanism that is capable of taking care of these pests as quickly and as humanely as possible. However, it’s important to realize that these rodents are intelligent creatures that are both aware and suspicious of their surroundings.
Mice are highly intelligent. They may react differently to different types of mouse trap bait. According to the experts at Victor Pest Control (a premier multinational pest-control service), it’s important that you use the best bait for your particular mouse trap situation. You should try different bait solutions until you find the best mouse trap bait for your particular “infestation”.
I cut a gob from the original can (using a heated butter knife) and placed it in a metal coffee can, then gently heated it over a low flame.( I did this in my shop, because you certainly don’t want this stuff on your kitchen stove!) Be very careful to not get it too hot, as it will burn. Next time I will use a makeshift double boiler arrangement and heat it with hot water.
Place the bucket trap in the area where you desire to trap rats and then fill the bucket with 2 gallons of water. Bait the trap by covering the aluminum pop can with peanut butter using a butter knife.
A: If an emergency situation occurs, immediately call the poison control number located on the package (1-877-854-2494) and a specially trained individual will assist in your next steps. This telephone number is also listed on the packaging of TOMCAT baits.
Thats about it… I mean I can’t believe it worked nearly instantly. Im hoping the family living above my kitchen slowly makes its way out and eventually I can staple gun metal sheeting over the hole they are accessing. I also hope the rats don’t get wise to this device…they are so intelligent and highly skeptical.
Fruit and berries — Out of all the foods rodents consume, their top two loves are generally fruits and berries. In the wild, rats and mice consume these foods at every opportunity. Therefore, raspberry and blackberry bushes — as well as apple and pear trees — can serve as magnets for the animals. When unconsumed fruits and berries are left to rot on their bushes or trees or left in uncovered trash cans, these rodents are drawn by the smell and sweetness. This can ultimately lead to infestations of residential properties.

I purchased a few of the Victor Professional rat trraps and the rats are getting in these traps and walking away. These traps do a good job on mice and smaller rats but the large ones are escaping. I wish Victor would put stronger springs on their traps. It would be a great improvement on these otherwise excellent traps.
I have a huge rat problem going on… They are in the crawl space above my kitchen having a grand ol’ time and living quite comfortably. I didnt notice the screen covers on the vents have holes in them and they just climb the stucco to get up there – this was pointed out to me by a pest control inspector. Worst of all there is no way for a person to access this area to get them out, nor poison them and have them die up there, potentially.
Remove from Floors and Other Non-Porous Surfaces: The quickest and most effective method for removing glue residue is with mineral spirits, such as turpentine or paint thinner, or with a limonene product, such as Goo-B-Gone. As above, dab it on the glue and let sit for several minutes. Use a dry cloth to rub over the glue area. Repeat as needed and then wash with soap and water.
Can anything speak louder than a photo of a giant dead rat in this device? I don’t think so. I can’t believe it. I set it up Saturday afternoon… no luck that first night (might has been my bait choice and/or location), then moving to the edge of a wall facing the bush my cat caught one in and putting the bit of peanut butter on the wall of the back, and bam, this morning I look out and see the little feet hanging out the front entrance. Im an animal lover but after what I have been through..seeing that felt like christmas to me.
In either scenario, these are the most labor intensive types of traps, but they are effective. They aren’t widely employed mainly because these traps are designed for catch and release; in many communities it’s illegal to release a wild black rat.
I drilled out a 12 inch piece of wood and put a hangar through it. attached it to the bucket and tied off one end with string attached so the stick would support the weight of the mouse. as soon as the mouse hits the half way point the stick swivels and plop ! in to the bucket he goes.
I prefer it to snap traps because of the lack of blood and gore – the body is very easily disposed of without leaving a mess behind which is a potential hazard to chickens, pets, wildlife or children.
