We had rats and mice pretty bad our house smelled like a rat cage. I cleaned my house spotless could not get rid of them they would not go after poison or traps they stayed clear of them. I am pregnant and was getting to sick from being home. After being gone at my moms for two weeks because I couldn’t deal with the smell and the rats my husband wanted me home so he got 5 of the small rodent electronic plug ins for our room and bathroom and one big one for our living room and kitchen. I have two dogs haven’t affected them at all. But after my husband plugged all of these in he called me and said he got them. Not even 24 hrs later i came home. my house didn’t smell nearly as bad and haven’t seen any since except for one. cleaned my house again and haven’t seen any droppings or pee stains anywhere. The one I saw I’m pretty sure ran out. My house is spotless and smells amazing and it’s been 2 weeks so I’m pretty sure these work. We have had a rat problem for almost 6 months and now they’re gone.
TOMCAT Glue Traps come ready to use and provide the perfect combination of immediate grip and stretchable hold. Simply open the package, separate the traps and place. For TOMCAT Glue Boards, remove the protective paper by gripping in one corner and pulling in one smooth, continuous motion. You can also use the glue boards as covered traps. First, fold around the fold lines, remove the protective paper, and then slide the tab into the slit, creating a box with two open ends for the pest to enter.
Those who don’t want to kill mice prefer to use electronic repellers. It’s a human and cut-rate way. For example, the set of 4 Ultrasonic Pest Repellers by Pest Venator costs only ~$28.89 Check the current price.
A huge drawback to the use of rat poison traps is the likelihood that the rat will crawl off to its nest (usually inside walls or other inaccessible places) to die, which leaves a secondary problem with the odor of decomposition. Another consequence of this, odor aside, is that fleas and mites will immediately abandon the body of a dead rat, and can establish themselves within the house or office. Since the fleas of rats are known disease vectors, one pest is replaced by another which may be equally as dangerous.
in vietnam baking soda is difficult to find so i use cement method. when i was in pakistan ,it was easy to find baking soda so i used baking soda method to kill rats and it was very effictive way to kill
Rats compensate for their poor vision by having excellent memories. Once a rat locates a safe way to get to where it wants to go it will travel that path over and over again. This is why rats are great at running mazes in lab experiments.
I bought these as an Add-On item for relatively inexpensive cost ($2.98) and I thought I would give them a try for this cheap. The other paper glue stuff I bought caught fiddler crabs and palmetto bugs; no rats or mice. I think the rats made fun of the lower quality glue paper as I found it pushed aside with no indication of rodent fur.
Once you catch a rat in a live trap you will need to figure out what you want to do with it. Some states have laws that require you to kill any trapped nuisance rodents. If you do decide to release the rat then do so as far away from your home (and those of others) as practical.
Most trapping efforts fail because too few mouse traps or rat traps are used. You’ll probably need more traps then you think. Set enough Victor traps to kill most of the population before the rodents begin to shy away from the traps. We recommend placing the traps every 2-3 feet along a wall, with the trap placed perpindicular to the wall. Rodents enter a home through holes the size of a dime and run along walls, not over open spaces.
In order for a glue board to work it has to be the right size for the rodent you’re dealing with. The Trapper Rat Glue Board Traps are 10″x4.75″, if they’re bigger than the squirrels you’re dealing with they could work.
Remember: Glue traps cause slow, agonizing deaths for the animals they trap. Never use glue traps, and share this with your family and friends so that they will learn the truth about these vile devices, too. Mice and rats are intelligent, sensitive animals who are just as capable of pain and suffering as the cats and dogs we share our homes with.
In 2001, the Federal Trade Commission sent a warning to manufacturers of ultrasonic pest control devices, demanding that claims of effectiveness must be backed up by scientific research. Thanks to the FTC intervention, package claims on ultrasonic rodent and insect devices are a little less preposterous than they used to be, and many product websites have links explaining their research methods and results, such as these from Green Shield and Victor.
For best results, bait the trap with a sticky substance. Rats are fond of peanut butter, fruit, meat, and cereal. Using several traps and placing them three feet apart in the rats foot path increases the chances of success. After catching a rat, Victor advises users to throw out the trap. For help setting the trap, keeping pets away from traps, and other pest control advice consult the Victor Web site. This item measures 6-13/16 by 3-7/16 inches, and weighs 1 pound. –Jessica Reuling
I revew the PDF of how to set the trap and I couldn’t understand how to set the bar on the metal pedal mecanism. Do you introduce the bar on the hole in the metal pedal or you try to grab the little nail in it or both. I snap my fingers and I know it will work on a mouse. I learn more on the review that on the PDF panflet.
A lot of people are suspicious of whether home rat traps will really work or not. Anyway, the reality of the situation is that if you make them correctly. Also put them in the right areas of your home where there is high population of rodents. It is sometimes unclear why originally built rodent traps may not work to rid you of rats while homemade ones will work successfully, but it happens.
Convenient Bait Door for Effortless Bait Application With the built-in bait cup, you always know your trap is properly baited. Access the cup by opening the bait door located at the back of the trap. To get started, use a toothpick or cotton swab to apply a high protein bait such as peanut butter or hazelnut spread in the cup. Then place your trap in an area with high rodent activity and turn it on.
Second, cover the entire floor of the mesh cage by a piece of metal plate placed on the bottom of the cage. Then, place some solid food for baiting on the metal plate near the back of the trap. It can be a bit of peanut butter, meat, fruit.

Decide whether glue traps are worth it. Many people consider glue traps inhumane because they cause rodents to die slowly or chew off their own limbs. However, some pest management professionals do use glue traps depending on the situation. You’ll need to decide whether the effectiveness of glue traps is worth using them.
Ammonia-soaked cotton balls or rags will drive rodents out (they hate the smell). Place them in areas where rodents, droppings, or nests have been seen, and be sure to give the animals a few days to leave. Then, to keep unwelcome “visitors” out, seal entry points using foam sealant, steel wool, hardware cloth, or metal flashing. If any rodents need to be removed from homes, this can be done with humane box traps.
Equipped with a setting control which allows you to use a soft or sensitive set,”s” for normal, stable surfaces and a firmer setting,”f”, on surfaces that may vibrate( machinery for example) ..where they could prematurely set off the trap.
With our last hopes, we found an article online about a rat spray that was said to make miracles. We thought it was impossible that a $5 spray would do any good, but what the heck, we’ve place our order. In two days, our package arrived, and in the next day the rats were.
Restaurant Pest Control: You want to maintain a professional atmosphere at your restaurant, and that leaves no room for a mouse infestation. Learn some tips and tricks on how to solve your rodent problems.
Lastly, get a cheap infrared webcam and set it up so you don’t have to go check the trap all the time… set it up to email you video of the rat getting caught, then you can pull out a fresh, non stinky rat and pitch him into the trash or local stand of trees as a food donation for needy racoons etc.
A: Remove the small staple holding the locking bar to the wood base. Place bait inside curl found at the end of the bait pedal. Pull back bow and hold down with thumb. With other hand, engage the curved portion locking bar under the small, V-shaped lip on the bait pedal.
Seriously….most insects cannot hear. Not at all….Crickets, katydids, cicadas and mosquitoes can hear sound. A few moths and flying mantids can also hear the high-pitched sounds bats make and avoid the bat, which is pretty cool! Beyond that, however, most insects are deaf, such as roaches, beetles, ants, dragonflies, etc. How does anyone actually believe these claims?
A. If you set out glue traps singly rather than in pairs, larger rodents can do a long jump over the trap. They might just get one of their hind paws stuck in the glue. They can drag the trap back to a hole in the wall and pull it off, or, in a few cases, they will even gnaw off their paw to escape. It’s kinder to the animal to put out two traps, not just one, with an inch (2.5 cm) gap between them.
I have battled rats for many years. Living close to a creek with sewer lines that run along it, these pesky critters always show up in the basement every winter. I’ve used just about every snap rat trap on the market, and although alot of the other traps work, these traps are the ones I keep coming back to. These traps work and work very well.
Ok this one is really innovative and gets a sucker with the scratch and sniff sticker. The video below shows an empty bottle, bigger than your average 20-ounce soda bottle and square much like a Fiji water bottle, set up as a rat trap. Now the video is set up for a rat which explains the reasoning behind the larger bottle, but I can imagine the trap in a smaller version would work just as fine for mice.
I’ve had one of these in my kitchen for 2 yrs, didn’t know that pests can get used to the sound. Nevertheless I bought a few more of them for some other rooms in my home. I’ve been seeing a lot of spiders in the house, so I will know if it works on them. I do recommend them, no ants, roaches that I seen. I do think that I will unplug them for a short while and then plug them in again.
Position traps along active rodent runways, such as along walls, under large kitchen appliances, in cupboards, and other areas where rodents travel. Be sure to fit the glue trap flush against a wall where rodents will run over and stick to it. Avoid placing traps in corners indoors. Since glue traps hold the mouse in place to show evidence, you can utilize glue traps to track where rodents are traveling. If you don’t catch a mouse within 2 days, move the trap to another spot. In addition to capturing mice, Tomcat Glue Traps of all varieties also trap insects such as spiders, roaches, or even scorpions.
