The right rat bait and its proper positioning are important steps of a successful rat capture. Rats will avoid a trap carrying human scent. To avoid transferring human scent we recommend wearing gloves when baiting the trap.
Thirty minutes later I flip the light switch on with my neck hair bristled. It looked like a murder scene minus the white chalk outline. Finally, Ratzilla was dead. I’ll spare you the bloody shots. No, this is not the bloody shot below. He measured over 15 inches from nose to tip of the tail.
Worked out the package, two nights in a row. 1st night female, 2nd night male. Bought the two pack, put strawberry in one & peanut butter in the other (something eating our strawberries). Strawberry trap got them both, didn’t even put new bait second night, just reset in same spot with a little bait still in cup. No more rat problem (for now). PB trap still sitting there with bait, set so strawberry is the bait of choice.
So, this unit can really trap a rat. According to the feedback, sometimes it happens very fast: within a day or an hour. Many also like the fact that “it’s easy-peasy” to take care of the trap: all you have to do is shake out a rat’s dead body, disassemble the trap in two parts, wipe it and re-use it!
When rats invade a house, it’s likely because of a swelling rat population somewhere nearby. If they’ve invaded your house but not your neighbor’s, it’s only because your house is less secure. However, sealing the gaps and plugging the holes in your walls, roof, windows and vents is just part of the battle. You also need to deny them useful paths to move around your property.
From what you have written, I assume they are outside your apartment and not inside? The best thing to do is remove all food sources, places where they can build nests and nesting materials. Make your property an unfriendly place for rats to live.
I moved into my newly built home one year ago, I had some ants last year and lots of those black long bugs with the pinchers on the tail and a couple other types of bugs, had a mouse the first night I slept here. I bought a six pack of repellers at Costco and have them all plugged in one in garage and four of them in second floor.
Rats and mice have always been a problem in this rural area as they live in the wild areas not far from buildings. Vehicles in my carport were frequently infested and nothing would stop new rodents from coming no matter how many were trapped or poisoned. I bought a VENSMILE Fireproof Rodent Repeller several months ago. I attached it to a car battery and placed it hanging on the wall in the center of my carport. FOR THE FIRST TIME, I HAVE NOT SEEN EVIDENCE OF EVEN ONE RAT OR MOUSE IN THE CARPORT NOR IN THE AREA IMMEDIATELY AROUND THE CARPORT FOR THE LAST 4 MONTHS! A couple weeks ago, I put it in our watertank house where rats had been living for years no matter how many were killed – They all left that night and have not been back since! I would say that that is proof that at least this one works. It has a varying signal that is claimed to prevent rodents from getting used to the sound. I have just bought 8 AC ones to put in the house and basement. If they work I will be very happy! Have tests been run on the newer multi/varying sound ones? If not they should be tested separately from the ones that have only one ultrasonic sound.
All it takes to eliminate rats, mice and other rodents are plugging in this black trap and waiting for it to do the dirty work. Made from strong plastic and measuring 4.21 x 5.31 x 11.1 inches, this item will allure the rats and then kill them instantly.

The Hoont trap even has ventilation. All in all, the design is thought through down to the tiniest detail. Does it kill rats and mice, though? We’ll turn to the customer feedback for the answer. Within 6 months after the launch, more than 400 reviews have been written on Amazon.com. This is a bit strange for a new product. All of the customers are either satisfied with the device or try to prove its uselessness.
If you don’t have a bucket at your convenience, fear not! There are plenty of clever ways to catch rats with everyday items, as you’ll see with this water bottle trap. The rat’s curiosity will eventually get the better of it, and when that happens, it’s as good as caught!
Nooski Rat Trap – great option to kill rats humanely and quickly. The product is really easy to use. It works by using rubber latex ring. When the rodent enters the trap the ring is released onto its neck/chest causing the critter to spring free of the Nooski trap and die quickly a few feet away.
Drive a stick through the opposite ends of the water bottle (Or whatever object you chose to use. It should be cylindrical and easy to roll.) Drill holes in two sides of the bucket near the top where you can slide the hanger through. Fill the bucket with water. (optional) Set up your ramps, and then bait the rolling mechanism. You’ll have rats climbing up to get to the delicious bait only to be dropped to the bottom of the bucket!
When you load up mouse traps with a lot of bait, the pests can steal some of it without getting caught in the trap. A pea-size amount of mouse trap bait is just right – enough to attract mice, but not so much that they can eat it without springing the trap.
Rice paste is a more heavy-bodied type paste, and because it doesn’t dry transparent, it’s best used underneath papers and objects, where it can’t be seen. Apply paste with a paintbrush and smooth down with an old credit card/driver’s license, if needed.  This glue will store for several months if kept sealed in a jar if kept sealed in a jar, and stored in a cool dark location when not in use.

This is a great trap if you don’t want to deal with a messy situation each time a mouse is caught in your trap. Simply deploy it along a rat path, and once a mouse is glued to the board, pick the board and dispose it.

Live rat trapping is difficult but can be accomplished.  The problem with live trapping is that unlike snap traps, the rat has to enter the trap and walk across the “trip” plate to get to the lure.  Some rats will wander into the trap without any thought and get trapped.  Other rats are smart and will not enter the trap at all. These rats are said to be “trap shy”.
Experts will tell you that even if you skip the bait but place the rat trap in the right location, you will have success. On the other hand, the best bait and a poorly placed trap are unlikely to lead to results. This involves inspecting the attic and looking for the rat paths. These rodents go over the same paths repeatedly and you can typically recognize them by their grease and droppings. Place the traps along these paths and you don’t really need to use bait. If it makes you feel better, put some peanut butter or dried fruit on the traps and wait for it to work.
conclusion — there should be some effect with these electronic device (mine is EI3110), but does it drive the cockroach wondering around, or they listen to the disco theme music (the LED light periodically go brighter and dimmer continuously) and come out , having a party of their lives —– who’s know
We had a bad rat problem that sounded like they were doing olympics in the attic every night! My wife bought the Pestacator 2000 from Home Depot. She plugged it in and that night not a sound. We have been rat free for 5 plus years.
We recommend you to use some different bait combos if it seems doesn’t work. For example, cracker with peanut butter, cat treats, peanuts, sunflower seeds or dog biscuits — choose the right one for your rats’ tastes. But don’t use salted product (nuts & seeds), which makes total sense as it has to detect the presence of the rodent and a wet salted path can fool it. The salt also corrodes the metal plates.
Glue traps never work to keep rodents away in the long run, and their use will actually backfire. This is because when animals are killed or otherwise removed, the resultant spike in the food supply causes accelerated breeding among survivors and newcomers—and this means increased populations. The only surefire way to keep mice and other animals out of your house is to make it less inviting to them.

“TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE I just wish I could attach the photo of the TWO rats I got in one trap, at the same time. It looks like they had a race for the cheese and it was a tie!” Read More Reviews »
When using anticoagulant baits, rodents must feed continuously over several days for the poison to be effective, so these baits must be refreshed often and made constantly available until feeding activity stops.
Peanut butter is among the most highly recommended rat baits to use because it attracts the animal and is incredibly simple. You most likely already have peanut butter in your home and when you spread it on a trap, it will stay in place. Since the rat can’t just pick it up and take the bait with them, they are more likely to be trapped. While peanut butter is a popular choice, you can also use whole nuts, bacon, berries, gumdrops, or dried fruit. Generally speaking, roof rats will prefer foods that are plant based while Norway rats will prefer items with a lot of sugar, protein, and fat. Either species likes peanut butter and dried fruit.
