A: The Victor® Easy Set® Mouse Trap is pre-baited with a strawberry scent. Additional baiting is not required, but to increase your chances of catching a rodent, feel free to bait the trap. For mice, anything high in protein like peanut butter, chocolate or hazelnut spread is a great option. Also, nesting materials like dental floss, cotton or string are also great options. Try to use whatever bait or nesting material the rodents are currently feeding on or using to build nests.
Sometimes, setting the trap can be a balancing act. We recommend holding the kill bar in place with one finger, holding the metal pedal up with another finger, and latching the end of the arm bar on the metal pedal with your other hand.
“BEST TRAP ON THE MARKET! I purchased the easy set traps because of the tension adjustment (either hard or soft) I have tried other traps and even using a side-by-side comparison, the Victor traps captured the rodent every time. Victor is the only trap I’ll buy from now on. It works, it’s durable and easy to set!” Read More Reviews »

Place the arm bar over the kill bar and secure it under the plastic pedal. Take note of the Firm and Sensitive setting. The trap will be easier to set on the firm side, but not trip as easy. The trap will be more difficult to set on the sensitive side, but trip very easily.
I don’t think that any commenters can truly say if the devices work. I do not see that any scientific experiments were conducted. Were two residences setup with exactly the same conditions both with mice. One serving as the control and one serving as the test? If you don’t evaluate using a scientific method with a control, you really cannot draw a valid conclusion regarding the effectiveness of the device.
For those interested, I grew up in “Rat City”, South Seattle neighborhood called White Center. My mom would have me put out DeCon(sp?) rat poison under the house, which apparently desiccates the rat quickly, making them drink any liquid they can find. Unfortunately for them, there’s a nice bowl of bleach waiting for them. I can’t count how many rotting stinky rats I have had to crawl under the house and recover. Many times just a pile of maggots.
By having these rat traps baited with Provoke Rat Attractant , Pro-Pest Professional Lures, or peanut butter in unset traps, a large population would be use to feeding on around the traps. When the rat traps are then simultaneously set after a while of this “feeding”, a large kill can be obtained.
At last, the homemade rat trap from bottle can be placed in an infested area. In addition, the caught rat won’t be able to escape once it comes in because the toothpick prevents the barbwire door from swinging outward.

they where great my fault just a little too large could have done with a size just a little smaller not sure there is such a thing ? they just eat the bait without trap going off as you can see I am a novice thanks
So as you can see here, you take an empty toilet paper roll and crease one side so it fits flat along the edge of a table or counter top. Balancing may be difficult at first, but that’s the concept to making this work. Once you find that sweet spot, place some peanut butter or some cracker crumbs at the end of the tube. The key is to making sure you have a tall enough bucket or bin below to where the mouse will fall as it reaches the end of the tube. Simple, cheap, and efficient. My kind of mouse trap.
A Hiss is an aggressive form of a ‘huff’. The rat will be aggressively posturing, probably fluffed up with their tail wagging. This rat should not be approached or picked up without a towel, some thick gloves or similar. In many cases it is best to leave the rat to calm down in a small familiar place such as a carrier. It is often a precursor to an outright attack or fight.
If you encounter an animal who is stuck to a glue trap, pour a small amount of cooking oil or baby oil onto the stuck areas (avoiding the animal’s nose and mouth) and gently work the animal free. If you cannot free the animal, quickly rush him or her to a veterinarian or wildlife rehabilitator. Sometimes euthanasia performed by a veterinarian is the most humane way to end the trapped animal’s suffering.
Ultrasonic electronic pest and insect repellent devices claim that their high frequency sound waves are intolerable to rodents and insects. However, simply plugging in one of these devices probably won’t end your pest woes. It’s important to understand exactly what these devices can do before investing in one.
We had a double deck built in August this year thus, assume this is where the origin of our problem occurred. As a result, we began to see a large brown rat of which had burrowed under the deck up against the basement wall. With the sound of constant chewing then sudden squealing we realized she had given birth. The rodent entered at the outside air condition unit under the deck and now, are in the basement . At this point, we hired a pest control to use humane options $400. caught one rat and did not leave the trap at that cost! Obviously glue traps do not work, after the first release. Then, again able to remove the bait from another clamp trap apparently out smarting us again. What about a bucket trap? Advise please.
Special Features: Low-profile plastic trays, designed to reduce the chance of rodents stopping at the edge of the tray, narrow lip also keeps rodents from skirting along the edges of the tray and avoiding the glue, can be used with Trapper Tunnels to protect against dust and debris
For best results, bait the trap with a sticky substance. Rats are fond of peanut butter, fruit, meat, and cereal. Using several traps and placing them three feet apart in the rats foot path increases the chances of success. After catching a rat, Victor advises users to throw out the trap. For help setting the trap, keeping pets away from traps, and other pest control advice consult the Victor Web site. This item measures 6-13/16 by 3-7/16 inches, and weighs 1 pound. –Jessica Reuling
Lastly, get a cheap infrared webcam and set it up so you don’t have to go check the trap all the time… set it up to email you video of the rat getting caught, then you can pull out a fresh, non stinky rat and pitch him into the trash or local stand of trees as a food donation for needy racoons etc.
This one when I first found it I gave it no mind. I then saw it again on another forum and decided to investigate it a little further. At first, it looks as if there is just a glass upside down held up by a nickel. Looking closely you can see there is peanut butter smeared on the bottom of the glass. Apparently a penny isn’t big enough so the nickel is the correct size to use here.
Place the trap where you have seen signs of rodent activity or along the wall where rodents primarily travel. The end of the trap where the metal pedal is baited should be placed flush against the wall.
Absolutely worked to get 2 very smart rats. They have been running in and out of my house for months. I tried the electric rat zappers from two different models but these two rats would not even trip the trap. 15 minutes after going up the first rat was caught. A little blood was on the trap from either the nose or mouth so i placed the entire thing in the garbage with the rat hanging from it. You can absolutely clean and reuse the trap- it was not damaged. But i purchased a 9 pack so i placed another trap and in a few minutes a heard a snap. The second rat was finally caught !!! This one did not bleed at all so i opened the trap and dropped him in the garbage bag. I used a very small piece of soft yellow cheese which i worked into the hook on the trap. I really got lucky catching the first rat cause i saw her stomach area moving while she laid dead- she was about to start populating my house. I used gloves while handling the traps and set the traps on the S setting. Be careful I snapped the very edge of a finger and it hurt. I would hate to see an good finger snap on these things.
After my encounters with the mouse who had gotten stuck in our glue trap, I wasn’t able to sleep for several nights without the paranoia that every little sound I heard was made by a small suffering mouse.
After reading many interesting comments, thought I should share my experience. I have used two bigger ultrasonic pest repellent units (Black & Decker EP1100-A) for last ten plus years for rodents and similar larger pests – One in backyard and one in garage; and didn’t have a single rodent or similar pest anywhere near the house. I don’t have anything to prove the cause and effect relationship, but we do think it works, at least for larger pests. We also have a few smaller pluggable units inside house and never had a single cockroach in the house.

I bought these as an Add-On item for relatively inexpensive cost ($2.98) and I thought I would give them a try for this cheap. The other paper glue stuff I bought caught fiddler crabs and palmetto bugs; no rats or mice. I think the rats made fun of the lower quality glue paper as I found it pushed aside with no indication of rodent fur.
R u kidding me??? Rats r disease ridden, filthy animals. When they invade ur home like they have mine…beds, closets, dog food, u may think differently. But…I’m good using the old fashioned “snap their neck ” trap. To hell with humane ways to get rid of them!
Obtain a long cardboard tube with one end closed. The tube might be from a paper towel roll or poster. It should be at least 12 inches long, 2-5 inches in diameter at its mouth, and have one end stopped with tape or with a cap. Place something soft in the closed end such as cotton balls or a wad of soft fabric.

I used 5 gecko lizards in my apartment years ago to get rid of some roaches. after release the lizards hid under the furniture and ate roaches till they were gone ( roaches and lizards ) I guess they followed the food.
Actually bought these to catch a couple of mice which somehow snuck into my basement(open door perhaps)from my backyard. These boards are very effective in catching mice. Put 2 down the first day I received them and BAM!, the next morning both mice were caught, on the same trap. DMOPC also offers these with the tunnel type covering to protect as much as possible against dust and dirt from catching on the trap which extends the adhesion of the trap. Also offered as “the more the buy, the more you save”. Great buy! Would purchase again.
Whichever type of rat trap is employed it is vital that the trap be put out baited but not activated for a few days so that rats will consider the trap a safe source of food. There are reasons for this; rats are notorious for avoiding “new” things in their environment, and are very cautious about taking baits in any quantity at first. Once they’ve grown accustomed to a trap, it can then be activated.
TOMCAT Glue Traps come ready to use and provide the perfect combination of immediate grip and stretchable hold. Simply open the package, separate the traps and place. For TOMCAT Glue Boards, remove the protective paper by gripping in one corner and pulling in one smooth, continuous motion. You can also use the glue boards as covered traps. First, fold around the fold lines, remove the protective paper, and then slide the tab into the slit, creating a box with two open ends for the pest to enter.
Trapping is one of the best ways to get rid of rats fast. You can take a humane trap and put bait in it to attract the rat. Peanut butter and cheese are the rat’s favorite. As the rat tries to eat this, it will be caught in the trap. After this, you can leave it in the woods or far away from your home so that it never comes back.
Apply a small amount of high-protein bait, such as peanut butter, chocolate or hazelnut spread to the metal pedal on the trap as shown. Be sure to use a Q-tip, toothpick or another tool to bait so your scent is not transferred onto the trap.
We had mice in the kitchen and garage. I put one plug-in reller in the kitchen and two in the garage. After about a week, no more mice incidents at all. That was over a year ago. Now to tackle the backyard with more powerful models to see if that will be a success as well.
When assembling the trap, we recommend applying the bait before the trap is set. After the trap is set, it is designed to trigger when movement is detected on the metal pedal. Baiting the trap before it is set ensures the safety of the consumer.
