Glue traps don’t require any bait at all, and they are safe for children and pets (at least pets larger than a hamster). However, either the rat dies of starvation or thirst, or you have to take appropriate precautions to avoid getting bitten when you remove the angry trapped rat still alive on the glue trap.
POWERFUL RODENT KILLERS ⚡ With over 30% more force than traditional traps, a hair trigger sensor, and jaws designed to kill without breaking the skin, these rodent killers are the ultimate protection against rats, gophers and other pests.
Benefits: Victor traps can be used to release rats safely from the glue traps with a bit of oil. With Victor Glue traps you can save money on rat control and fight your rat infestation at economical price.
There is a better way, and it wouldn’t be wrong if you learn how to identify pest like this and some strategies on how to handle them. You’ve heard of DIY rattraps? But buy the wrong type and it can go horribly wrong. The following article will turn you from novice to pro when choosing a rat trap to help with your mouse problems
I have been using some of the expensive ones of these [electro-magnetic and ultrasonic][advertised on TV] for about 5-6 years with good results. My Dogs don’t seem to be affected. I gave one to My Son as he had mice but His Pet Lizard was VERY affected by it. I have one in a large metal garden shed and it seems to keep most things out of the shed. My two other sheds do get mice or rats occasionally which I kill with baits. I put one of these in another Sons Apartment which had lots of cockroaches, and the tenants next door complained about all the cockroaches they had.. lol. As lizards don’t like these, maybe snakes don’t either?
To remove the glue from floors or other nonporous surfaces, try oil if the surface won’t be damaged, or use turpentine, paint thinner, or Goo Be Gone, or similar product. Test an inconspicuous area first. Let the solvent sit for several minutes, wipe it off with a dry cloth, then wash with mild detergent.
The JT Eaton Jawz 410 is made from durable plastic with an effective, high-tension spring-loaded capture mechanism. Its compact size allows it to be placed under equipment or furniture and in tight spaces. It can be set by hand or foot.
If glue boards are used in rat control, then the Trapper Tunnel is recommended. The Trapper Tunnel is a piece of heavy cardboard that is shaped like a tunnel. The glue board is placed inside of the tunnel to help keep it protected from dust, dirt and falling objects. This can help double or even triple the life of the glue board.
If you plan on using plastic snap traps indoors, it is best to use them in a box with holes cut out on the sides or inside a rodent bait station. This is purely for safety reasons. Plastic rat traps are one of the safest and effective traps on the market. Safe enough in my opinion to use around older children and pets.

Additionally, this product will need to be placed away from pets and children because they could easily become victims of its use (however this is something you should think about with all types of traps)
For example, they are made of strong materials, come in simple designs, are easy to use and kill the rats quickly and in a humane manner. They are also versatile and suitable for both indoor and outdoor application whether in the home, office, restaurant, food store, garage and other places.
PETA often fields calls from people who have discovered small “nontarget” animals hopelessly trapped on these sticky boards. One distraught woman found a glue trap with a bird, two frogs, and a salamander stuck to its surface. All the animals were still alive when she found them but died later, despite her efforts to free them.
The advantage is that its kills can be easily disposed, and it can be quickly cleaned. Since it is a Snap trap, there will likely be a bloody mess each time a mouse is caught and killed. Definitely, one of the messier mousetraps out there but don’t be discouraged because it probably the works the best amongst all the available products online. I’d vouch for Snap-E mousetraps any day of the week.

Human Hair – Yeah, I’ve heard of people swearing by this. These people are bordering on witchcraft for the mentally handicapped. I think the theory here is that rats aren’t supposed to like the smell of humans. First of all, your house already smells like humans. Second of all, RATS LOVE HUMANS. That’s how they live and thrive! They are the #1 commensal animal, designed to live in urban areas with humans! Human hair smells like home to a rat.
I’m visiting Canmore, Alberta, Canada from the US and the Canadian Tire I was just in definitely sells 2 brands of ultrasonic rodent devices. So the gentleman that said they are banned in Canada is incorrect. Sept 6 2016
Check the traps regularly. If you find a mouse still alive in the trap you will need to kill it to end its suffering (a good reason to do everything you can to make sure the trap works as it’s meant to).
We recommend you to use some different bait combos if it seems doesn’t work. For example, cracker with peanut butter, cat treats, peanuts, sunflower seeds or dog biscuits — choose the right one for your rats’ tastes. But don’t use salted product (nuts & seeds), which makes total sense as it has to detect the presence of the rodent and a wet salted path can fool it. The salt also corrodes the metal plates.
Quickly and effectively kills brown and black rats Powerful snap design thats easy to use Conveniently set traps with hand or foot Patented trap uses interlocking jaws to make escape virtually impossible Removable bait cup enhances trap servicing even when unset
The unit emits a powerful shock that kills the rodent instantly and won’t cause a bloody mess. This makes handling easy and also improves sanitation. Moving the trap is easy courtesy of its light weight of 1.5 pounds and easy to carry design.
Remember: Glue traps cause slow, agonizing deaths for the animals they trap. Never use glue traps, and share this with your family and friends so that they will learn the truth about these vile devices, too. Mice and rats are intelligent, sensitive animals who are just as capable of pain and suffering as the cats and dogs we share our homes with.
If you don’t want to kill rodents in your house, then it’s a great choice for you. This is the best live rat trap which you can find. Its clever design allows you to catch even light weight animals like a small mouse.
I am the best mouser in our house (and we have three cats!) Like you, I found that rodents can eat peanut butter or cheese right off a trap without springing it. So I took to cooking a piece of turkey bacon until it was just shy of crispy, then I threaded a needle and “sewed” it onto the trap. Then I put the trap between the cabinet and stove so that the mice could only approach it from the striking side (and if the cats stuck their paws in there, the trap would spring away from them).
We unfortunately had a serious issue with ‘Norway Rats.’ These are enormous rats. The regular glue traps from other stores just weren’t doing the trick. We could see evidence that the rats had gotten stuck on the trap, but they were able to free themselves after some amount of time. For reference, we checked the traps every morning.
There are two clever reason why rats travel alongside walls: First, they use their whiskers to sense objects in front of them in the dark. By keeping one set of whiskers touching a wall, they can tell if they are still on the right path. Secondly, traveling along a wall provides protection – they only have to watch for trouble on the open-air side of their path.
The bottom line is that rats know that it’s literally a rat-eat-rat world out there. If a rat has established a successful place to live, it knows that if it leaves that place, it will die. Guaranteed. If a rat is forced out of a house, into the elements outside, or if it tries to go into another rat’s territory, it will be quickly killed, it will lose all access to the shelter and resources it needs to live. In a life or death scenario, a rat will never leave a territory, for any reason – especially not a bad smell or noise. Not even a threat like a cat works.
If you find the mouse trap bait is gone, but the trap did not snap, the trigger may not be sensitive enough. Place a small amount of sticky or gooey mouse trap bait like peanut butter in the bait station. Then push a nut or other tidbit in the middle of the peanut butter. This forces the mouse to stop on the platform & apply more pressure to the trigger while removing the nut. This method will prevent the mouse from just grabbing your mouse bait and running away to safety.
Im a bass player and whenever Id be practicing loud I’d be hearing all this scurrying in my ceiling. Yeah I have rats in my attic and my bass guitar was pissing them off. Rats don’t like Intrasound waves vibrating them so along with traps and tons of decon and shaking them up with my bass I’ve been killing lots of them.
The spinning can looks simple enough; run a wire through a beer or soda can and suspend it over a bucket of water. A stick or ruler is placed so he can climb up the bucket and peanut butter is put on the can to entice the mouse. When he gets to the can it spins like a log in water and he falls. Of course the mouse drowns in this scenario but you can leave the bucket empty but you’ll need to release him after he is caught.
Its green light indicator blinks when it kills an animal. According to the company, with one set of batteries, this device can kill up to 50 rats. You can check this article about Victor Electronic Rat Traps, you’ll get some useful information.
Thought it would work since it’s labeled for rats but mice walk through it like it’s nothing. I’ve seen a whole body imprint and no mouse. Very disappointing…for the price I paid, it couldn’t even beat the old school mouse snap traps.
Mixing poison with edible bait can cause numerous problems. For example, if a rat gets away with the bait and drags it across the floor, that poison could potentially spread through your flooring. This can be hazardous to any bare feet that cross over the area, especially if you have pets or children in the house.
The manufacturer doesn’t recommend using peanut butter, but if you insist on it like I do, they recommend that you smear it on the inside of the rear metal plate between the holes, so it doesn’t ooze onto the metal plate or electronics. That’s what I did. I baited the trap and *LEFT IT TURNED OFF* for a few days so the rats would get comfortable with it, as recommended. When I checked the trap after a few days, they had polished it clean of peanut butter.
To celebrate our 50 episode, we spent some time with one of the most recognized and respected pest professionals on the planet. Jerry Schappert talks with us about his early blogging days, books, pest control business, and his super successful online community.
Again, this food has a powerful and distinctive odor that attracts rats. An effective way to bait a trap with this food is to tie a small piece of bacon to the trap. This will prevent a rat from quickly snatching the bacon and escaping before the springing trap snares it.

A: Place the trap along the wall where rodents primarily travel or where you have seen signs of rodent activity. Rats are wary critters and they’ll initially avoid anything new in their environment. Good news is we’re smarter than they are! It may take a few days or nights for the first rat to enter your trap but be patient!

Manufacturers direct consumers to throw the animals away along with the trap, but I just couldn’t leave him to starve and die slowly, so I sat outside working with dirt, dish soap, olive oil, and my hands to free the little guy. At one point, the mouse let out a squeak and sunk his teeth into my hand because of the terror and pain he felt as I was trying to pry his body from a pool of glue.
ANSWER: There is limited data on how well electronic or high-frequency sound devices work for household pest control. These devices may be called ultrasonic, electronic, microvibration or electromagnetic pest repellers. The manufacturers state that they use high-frequency sound waves or electromagnetic output to repel insects (cockroaches, fleas, house flies, mosquitoes, rodents, moles, and other pests). There is truly no data, aside from anecdotal information on various internet sites, as to the effectiveness of these devices.

To dispose of a trapped rodent, wear disposable gloves. For easy removal, throw the trap and the dead rodent into the trash together. If you would prefer to reuse the trap, pull back the U-shaped bar to release the carcass into the trash.

I know this is an old post, but you actually want the stairway to heaven in line with the wire. The vermin will attempt to high wire in an effort to get to the bait. If it doesn’t make it to the can, it loses its balance and will try to gain foot on the can. Then it’s bye bye Ratzilla!
Catseye prefers to use snap traps for humane reasons unless otherwise directed by a client. Ideally, the best solution is to install an exclusion system to prevent mice from ever entering your home again.
This is a great mouse trap. Don’t let haters of this device fool you. Unfortunately, some mice just learn to deal with traps, and that’s that. They are mammals, they can learn, and rodents are pretty sharp. Sucks to be you if you have mice that are too smart for this type of trap, and you will have to put out some kind of poison, more likely than not. This DOES NOT make the device faulty!
Ultrasonic electronic pest and insect repellent devices claim that their high frequency sound waves are intolerable to rodents and insects. However, simply plugging in one of these devices probably won’t end your pest woes. It’s important to understand exactly what these devices can do before investing in one.
If you encounter an animal who is stuck to a glue trap, pour a small amount of cooking oil or baby oil onto the stuck areas (avoiding the animal’s nose and mouth) and gently work the animal free. If you cannot free the animal, quickly rush him or her to a veterinarian or wildlife rehabilitator. Sometimes euthanasia performed by a veterinarian is the most humane way to end the trapped animal’s suffering.
