Otherwise, let’s get into the cheaper alternative in getting rid of these pesky little rodents, mouse traps!
The device emits piercing oscillations in a range of frequencies that only rodents can hear. To the ears of a rat, the sounds are deafening. Set one Ultra PestChaser® up in your attic, as well as one in your basement, and watch as all signs of rat activity cease within your home. No rat traps to set up, no carcasses and no mess.
Rats are heavier, stronger and smarter than mice, so snap and glue traps won’t do for them. They can co-operate to steal the bait from a mechanical trap. Sticky traps can catch a young rat; mature individuals will be able to escape from it within an hour or two. That is why electronic traps are the best solution against rats.

Simply bait with ordinary pet food or another high-protein bait (peanut butter, etc.). There are no poisons to endanger your pets or the environment. Mice and rats enter the chamber and are dispatched humanely with a quick but powerful jolt of electricity. The red light tells you when you have a catch. No blood, no gore, no mess! You don’t even need to look at the rodent; simply tip the Rat Zapper and let the dead rodent slide out. I have had several of the Victor Traps, the Classic and the Ultra, and when they work, they are awesome. The batteries do not last as long as advertised, and unfortunately you are always going to have false triggers, as bugs, dust, and moisture can make the plates arc. The other thing is they do stop working, no matter how well you try to maintain them, but Victor will replace them if you call them. They do have an excellent customer service department. Make sure to keep your proof of purchase in a safe place. If you buy online, just keep a record of the invoice or shipping info. If you live in a rural area, you can throw the dead rats out in an area where birds can see them and they will take care of the remains for you. (Rat-cycling!) Speaking of recycling, when the batteries no longer power the trap, they are still good for other things, like flashlights.
Mice can detect your scent on traps you’ve handled and may then stay away from them. To prevent that, wear gloves when handling mouse trap bait and setting mouse traps. Gloves used for food preparation, health care, or washing dishes all work well. (Be sure to wear gloves to handle a trap after it has caught a pest to protect yourself from disease.)

We had mice in the kitchen and garage. I put one plug-in reller in the kitchen and two in the garage. After about a week, no more mice incidents at all. That was over a year ago. Now to tackle the backyard with more powerful models to see if that will be a success as well.
Unfortunately, I never knew just how inhumane glue traps are until I actually used one. Now, I know that there are many reasons never to use glue traps in your home. Not only do they cause slow and agonizing deaths for the animals they trap, they can also be dangerous to humans and animal companions.
Kness Ketch-all Multiple Catch Rat Trap – The ‘Worlds Best Mousetrap”, the Kness Ketch-all Multiple Catch Trap captures mice and smaller rats. It is not designed to capture large rats. The story behind this trap is that Mr. Kness developed it for his child’s school in the early 1920’s. The school had a mouse problem that they could not control. Mr. Kness, being an engineer, developed the world’s first repeating mouse trap. As the story goes, it eliminated the mice and Kness Manufacturing was born.
It has over 2700 customer’s reviews on Amazon.com that includes a very helpful ones for the following users of it. First, don’t overbait thе trap because a big dose of a peanut butter or other stuff can lead to the trap’ zapping the bait and de-activates then. Also, users think it’s better to use sun flower seed butter or dog food than a peanut butter. Rodents’ tastes differ as humans.

Im a bass player and whenever Id be practicing loud I’d be hearing all this scurrying in my ceiling. Yeah I have rats in my attic and my bass guitar was pissing them off. Rats don’t like Intrasound waves vibrating them so along with traps and tons of decon and shaking them up with my bass I’ve been killing lots of them.

I’ve used a similar product before and encountered the problems with handling it at room temperature. Then I thought, “How did the manufacturer get it in the can?”. It melts, and that’s how to handle this stuff.
You’ll find a lot of conflicting advice about this. I’ve found four things that seem to work well : peanut butter, cheese, bacon bits and mashed up cat food. You don’t need a lot of it – on this trap a smear will work well.

How do you keep rats away? I started a compost pile and it attracted lots of rats so I got rid of it immediately but now the damage has been done. I had been in this apartment for over a year without a single rat but now I can’t seem to completely get rid of them. I caught like 7 in 2 nights and kept the traps up for another couple weeks with nothing. Now a couple months later they’re back and in full force.
It’s only when the mouse is killed instantly that the trap could be considered humane, as the animal dies quickly without experiencing panic. That’s why it’s important to set traps correctly. Carefully follow the instructions that come with the traps. In addition, below are a few tips to help ensure the trap works as intended.
Proper trapping of the pests. These products need to be setup simultaneously to take advantage of the first night. Most of these pests will be drastically more cautious on the second night compared to the first night. This behavior needs to be taken advantage of.
The Victor rat trap can be used indoors or out. Because of its design, it is perfect for a barn or other outdoor location. This trap is 7 inches long and 3.25 inches wide, which is perfect for capturing those large rats. Due to the fact that this trap is designed for rats, it won’t work as well for smaller mice. These traps are very sturdy and a produce a wicked snap that can kill a rate up to 6 inches. It’s the most economical way to take care of the occasional rat or a whole house infestation.
Experts say this is the next evolution in rat trap design. The unit is created from high-impact plastic and various other rust-resistant metals. When you buy this one, you buy it for life. The general design ensures both durability and a long lifespan. The Rat Snap is easy to use, highly effective and it is safe. There is no chance of catching your finger in it like older style traps. Customers are saying that even the savviest of rats are no match for the Tomcat. With its room to amply put bait, they can’t resist. All you have to do is open the trap and set it perpendicular to a wall. Put it right in the rat’s main travel pathways for best use. This trap works best 5 – 100 feet from a nest or food source.
5) Are mice entry spots located in “sensitive” areas of the house? If the mice enter or frequent sensitive parts of the home, such as near expensive carpeting or upholstery, then you may not want to risk blood splatters using a Snap Trap. Equally though, there is a risk of mice rolling over Glue Traps onto those surfaces. An Electronic Trap or a Baiting Station might work best in such situations.
I bought one after my apartment was infested with roaches that came through the wall from another apartment in my complex next to me. My apartment complex came in and found my place 3 times and it failed to work. So I spoke to Super who I happen to be friends with and he told me to get one of those electric ones that you plug into the wall because that would make it stop. So that day I went out and I purchased one just one plugged it in the wall and believe it or not I’ve never seen one again. Not only did it work against roaches it was pet friendly my cats and I are two of them. Did not react to it at all. I seem to think that they work great not only did it work on that but my friend had brought bunch of bags in from her place that she was staying in and I was failed to be given the information that she had had bed bugs a few days later I seem to get bit a few times all over and noticed that it was probably bedbugs it had been a year since the last time I put in a new plug-in in my plug and I bought said it was good for a year. After I put the new plug-in in it was the same brand I’d gotten in the past it got the bed bugs to go away as well. Now that I have moved into a house I’m noticing this is my second year here I’m having problems with ants I’ve yet to have to put one in my house but I am about to go get one tomorrow and put one on I will repost and let you guys know if the kind of worked for ants or not.
I gave it 4 stars because occasionally the rat gets away. Sometimes the trap is sprung with no sign of a rat, and sometimes there’s a rat arm inside the trap. It makes me feel a little sad to think of the rats with crutches and prosthetic legs. I assume, in their world, it’s hard to get a job as a chef, lab rat, running in a rat race, or zodiac model with a missing front leg. Although, I hear the rats in this area have a strong union with excellent health care.
Eliminating rats from an office building or factory is a much larger mission than trapping rats infesting a home. If multiple floors are seeing signs of rats, you need to learn the root of the problem. They could be accessing these spaces via air vents, basements or even toilets. Once access points are identified, conquer these rodents with a sufficient number of traps.
A: The F and the S located on the bait pedal of the trap stand for firm and sensitive. The trap can either be set with a firm setting or sensitive setting. An instruction sheet and video are available that will give detailed step-by-step instructions on how to set the Victor® Easy Set® Rat Trap. The instruction sheet and video also explain how to use the firm and sensitive setting and the difference between the two.
I will as a matter of principle only recommend things on this site if I feel they’re good value. Usually I’ve tried them myself or know and trust someone else who has. In this case, I’ve been using this trap now for well over two years, with excellent results.
I put a bit of peanut butter on the center plastic bit and put this under my drawer. Finally caught the mouse that’s been running around my house for weeks! We haven’t found out where it comes in from, but at least we know that we can catch them! Thank you for these awesome traps! My brother and I took it to the next town over and released it in front of the forest. The little fellow couldn’t wriggle off. We used dishwasher soap and some water to set it free. No more rat poo around the house! Mom finally relieved. No more skittering noises in the night! Adios, El Magnifico!
3) Are you a conservationist? If the answer is yes, and you believe that harming mice isn’t morally justifiable, then Snap Traps, Glue Traps and Baiting Stations aren’t what you want. A Multiple Catch trap is more likely what you are looking for when it comes to catching these animals. These sort of devices are great and effective for catching small rodents in your home, so if you are looking for a humane way to get rid of the animals then this is what you’re looking for.
Black rats, which scale trees and enter homes through coin-sized holes in attics, find peanut butter irresistible. Brown rats, which typically rummage through garbage and snake their way inside homes via tiny cracks, can be tempted with a smelly cheese.
This is the second round of a dozen traps. The desert heat trashes them over 6 months…however, they are the easiest to trap with. I’ve never even baited them. Never! Just place on known rat areas and they work fine without the mess. I had tried other brands, and poison…didn’t work.
